How Membership Works

Membership in the Cult of the Dead Rabbit

The Cult of the Dead Rabbit isn't an open-door Discord server where anyone can join and immediately access everything.

Membership is earned.

We keep the Cult intentionally small and selective because the community works best when members actively participate, respect one another, and contribute to the environment we're building together.

There are only 333 active membership places, so every membership matters.

Step 1 — Join the Cult

Anyone who believes they may be a good fit can enter the Cult and begin the application process.

Before membership can be awarded, new users must meet the Cult's basic requirements:

• Be over 21 years of age

• Be able to speak, write, and understand English

• Have a Discord account that is at least 90 days old

• Agree to follow the Cult's rules and Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines

Step 2 — Voice Verification

Every new user goes through a short voice verification with a member of the Cult Staff.

This isn't an interrogation.

It's simply an opportunity for us to confirm that you meet the basic requirements, explain how the Cult works, answer questions, and make sure you understand what you're joining.

You'll be asked some basic questions, including your age, location/time zone, and how you discovered the Cult.

If everything checks out, you'll receive the New Member role.

Step 3 — The New Member Period

Passing verification doesn't immediately make you a full Member.

New Members enter a minimum 30-day probationary period.

During this time, you'll have limited access to some areas of the Cult while you get to know the community—and while the community gets to know you.

This period exists for both sides.

You're deciding whether the Cult is right for you.

We're determining whether you're right for the Cult.

Step 4 — Participate

The Cult is a social community, so participation matters.

New Members are expected to become involved in the community during their probationary period. The current membership recommendations include participating in voice chat for 20 hours a month and joining voice chat at least three separate times during the first 30 days. We understand jobs, families and life in general may prevent some of our users achieving 20 hours a month in voice chat, so this becomes more of a recommendation than a requirement.

Cult Staff periodically review New Members and determine whether they should progress to full membership.

Step 5 — Become a Member

Once you've successfully completed the process and demonstrated that you're an active and compatible member of the community, you'll be upgraded to the Member role.

Full Members receive access to the private member areas of the Cult, including member content, logs, and other areas unavailable to the public.

Membership is intended to be long-term. Members may remain part of the Cult indefinitely as long as they continue to follow the rules and participate appropriately.

What We're Looking For

We're not looking for a particular type of person.

We're looking for people who are:

Respectful.

Treat others the way you'd expect to be treated.

Social.

The Cult is built around interaction, particularly voice chat.

Mature.

Disagreements happen. Drama doesn't need to.

Privacy-conscious.

Members trust one another with their conversations and personal experiences.

Compatible.

Not everyone will fit every community, and that's okay.

The Cult's guidelines emphasize respect, privacy, participation, courtesy, and avoiding behavior that creates unnecessary division or disruption.

What Happens If You Become Inactive?

Life happens.

Members who become inactive for more than 30 days may be moved into the Cult's Inactive role. This doesn't necessarily mean you've lost your place forever. Inactive members can return and follow the process provided by the Cult to regain their Member role.

The goal isn't to punish people for having a life outside Discord.

The goal is to make sure the 333 active membership places are being used by people who actually want to participate.

Membership Isn't For Everyone

The Cult is deliberately selective.

Some people will discover that it isn't the right community for them. Others may not meet the requirements or may not be compatible with the culture we're trying to maintain.

That's okay.

We're not trying to be everything to everyone.

We're trying to build one particular kind of community, and protect it for the people who belong here.

The Short Version

Join → Verify → Participate → Complete probation → Become a Member.

Simple enough.

The difficult part?

Convincing the Rabbit you're worthy.

There are only 333 places. Make yours count.
